The Royal Australian Navy

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) uses MAPS for ‘Whole Ship Coordination’. This provides the RAN with the ability to manage the Crew List of all RAN personnel and visitors assigned to a ship to ensure that all the requirements of each ship can be met by the correct number of adequately qualified individuals. MAPS is then capable of automating the Watch & Action Station Bill, managing all Crew Bunk Assignments and ensuring that Life Raft Allocations are set-up appropriately. All of these functions contribute towards the RAN ‘flexicrewing’ concept which is designed to identify mechanisms to balance ships' crew requirements between training, leave and operational activities.
