Royal Navy Crew Manning Trial of MAPS Defence Suite

5 November 2008

Allocate Software plc, a leading provider of workforce optimisation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Royal Navy has contracted to use the MAPS Defence Suite to support a crew manning trial as part of their Project FISHER Initiative; an on-going project into flexible manning, looking at better ways to man the future Fleet. The trial will cover the approx 900 Royal Navy Junior Rates manning six Portsmouth Flotilla Type 23 Frigates and their associated shore based assignments. The objective of the 12 month trial is to test the ability of MAPS Defence Suite to deliver significant efficiency improvements to the Flotilla Squad Pooling system.

Project FISHER is a very high profile Royal Navy initiative, with the MAPS Defence Suite trial owned by the Second Sea Lord. It represents Allocate Software’s first direct contract with the Royal Navy itself, with MAPS Defence Suite having being chosen due to senior Naval officers observing the sustained benefits being delivered by Allocate Software’s workforce planning solution to their fleet supply operation, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). A constituent component of the trial will be to test the ability of MAPS Defence Suite to deliver significant efficiency improvements in managing the Flotilla Squad Pooling system.
