APHM International Healthcare Conference & Exhibition 2010

13 July - 15 July 2010

APHM events are not only the platform for information and updates on health services and developments in health management, but also represent an effective venue for sharing and dialogue between the various stakeholders involved in the complex business of healthcare.
In planning for the 2010 event, the APHM has decided to continue to build on the past two years’ focus on patient safety and clinical governance. This time, they expand their deliberations to include two new areas - that of corporate and social responsibility (‘giving’) as well as sustainable energy and care of our environment (‘greening’).

Here are some of the forthcoming highlights for the 18th APHM International Healthcare Conference & Exhibition:
• Patient safety interventions and programmes - a status update with case study feedback from hospitals on the challenges and successes
• Developing ‘clinician leadership’ - Doctors at the forefront of clinical governance - how successful has this been? Issues relating to change management
• ‘Sustainable energy’, ‘carbon footprint’, ‘global warming’ - catchphrases that are commonly heard and seen in our media - but how do these apply to hospitals and hospital buildings?
• ‘Green Building Index’ - Malaysia has recently announced tax incentives within its 2010 Budget for buildings achieving GBI certification - what is this all about?
• CSR - for-profit hospitals are often accused of running healthcare as a business - are such accusations deserved? How should healthcare providers behave in terms of corporate & social responsibility - particularly for the populace that is less able to afford private healthcare? What is our role in improving the nation’s public health?
